Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has issued an earnest appeal to all political stakeholders, urging them to commit to the resolution of disputes through the judicial system in the upcoming general elections of this year.

Dr. Bawumia underscored Ghana’s notable standing as the most peaceful country in West Africa and the second most peaceful in Africa. He emphasized the importance of upholding such a reputation and not taking it lightly.

Emphasizing the significance of the year 2024 as a pivotal period for general elections in Ghana, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the nation’s unique status as an oasis of peace amidst the turmoil experienced by neighboring countries. He expressed his belief that Ghana’s peace is not a mere coincidence but a result of divine intervention.

“I firmly believe that God has His hand on Ghana, and it is incumbent upon us to continue praying for the maintenance of peace and stability in our beloved country,” remarked the Vice President. He emphasized Ghana’s established practice of resorting to the judicial system to resolve election-related difficulties and disagreements.

“For us in Ghana, when faced with challenges and electoral disputes, we seek recourse in the court, and we settle matters judiciously. I anticipate that the 2024 elections will follow the same path – resolving disputes through legal channels, allowing for a peaceful coexistence,” added the Vice President.

The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party underscored the importance of collective prayers for Ghana as it prepares for the upcoming general elections. Dr. Bawumia’s appeal reflects a commitment to ensuring a peaceful and lawful electoral process in the nation.
